Basketball Recap: Veritas Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Concordia last Tuesday, Veritas Academy came back down to earth. Veritas Academy lost to the Vanguard College Prep Vikings at home by a 50-31 margin on Thursday. Veritas Academy has struggled against Vanguard College Prep recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Veritas Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Perry Kinane posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Kinane is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Patrick Cannata, who put up seven points and four steals.

Veritas Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Vanguard College Prep, they pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Veritas Academy will venture away from home to challenge Round Rock Christian Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Vanguard College Prep, they will welcome Texas School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
