Basketball Game Preview: Legacy Lightning vs. Broomfield Eagles

Legacy hasn't had much luck against Broomfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Legacy Lightning will head out on the road to square off against the Broomfield Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Legacy is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Silver Creek: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Legacy blew Silver Creek out of the water with a 65-22 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lightning had established a 34 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Broomfield had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.8 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over the Tigers. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Tigers are ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Legacy's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Broomfield, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1.

Legacy took a serious blow against Broomfield in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 60-20. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Legacy was down 30-9.
