Softball Game Preview: Post Antelopes vs. Abernathy Antelopes

Post will take on Abernathy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Post has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Post lost 12-6 to Lubbock Christian on Monday. The Antelopes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Saniya Sanchez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Azuray Landa, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Abernathy made easy work of Ralls on Thursday and carried off a 16-6 win. The Antelopes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Mallory Gonzalez was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bryer Cook, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Abernathy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.

Abernathy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Post, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Post has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Abernathy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Post's way against Abernathy in their previous matchup back in February, as Post made off with a 13-2 win. Will Post repeat their success, or does Abernathy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
