League recap: Auburn Mountainview's Brooks delivers best pitching performance from past week

3A SPSL league recap: 4/3/13

Nick Brooks was the best pitcher in 3A SPSL this week, leading Auburn Mountainview. He won one game and retired 22 batters.

Derik Bontempo was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .583 average, two home runs and nine RBIs. Decatur compiled a record of 3-1 in that time.

Peninsula boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Peninsula scored 35 runs this week to lead the league, but the Golden Gators are tops in runs scored this year, with 87.

Decatur's Bontempo tore up 3A SPSL this week as he led the league in average, hits and RBIs. Bontempo notched seven hits and nine RBIs, all while batting .583.

Brooks, Brice Mcculloch, Bontempo and Chris Carns hit home runs this week.



The Golden Gators' Carns struck out nine Enumclaw hitters en route to a 15-1 victory on March 27. Over his five innings pitched he allowed one run on two hits.

Carns was an RBI machine on Wednesday, as he knocked in five runs during Decatur's 15-1 win over the Hornets. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
