Softball Recap: Tyngsborough's Run of Eight Straight Wins Now Over

Tyngsborough dropped their record down to 23-5-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Case Cardinals by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in June of 2024.

Carly Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Arsenault, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

As for Case, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games.

On Case's side, Lila Alvarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Alvarez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alyana DeJesus, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Mia Caetano also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

While Tyngsborough had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
