Long Reach wins going away against Oakland Mills

The Long Reach Lightning waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They blew past Oakland Mills 81-57. Given Long Reach's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Oakland Mills is ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Long Reach had a senior duo take command as Jayden Saunders scored 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals and Junior Nunez scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Saunders hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. RJ Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.

Long Reach pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.67 points. As for Oakland Mills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Long Reach will be playing at home against Marriotts Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakland Mills will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against River Hill at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. River Hill has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 923 points over their last 12 matches.
