Softball Game Preview: American Eagles vs. Moreau Catholic Mariners

American is 0-10 against Moreau Catholic since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

American took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Washington 12-5. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Mya Anderson and Hudah Hassanin did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Hassanin got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two RBI gave Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dhwani Badala, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

American was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moreau Catholic). They put the hurt on Washington with a sharp 18-5 victory on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Mariners, who have now won four games in a row.

Lexi Mejia was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Ritchie, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

American's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Moreau Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
