Basketball Recap: Hilliard Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Hilliard was feeling good fresh off their 98-69 takedown of Charlton County last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hilliard Red Flashes took a 76-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newberry Panthers on Tuesday. The Red Flashes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Hilliard lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cj Hall, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'Veon Dunbar, who went 7 of 12from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points.

Hilliard's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. As for Newberry, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Hilliard will welcome Yulee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newberry, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
