Softball Recap: Marathon Wins Going Away Against Immaculata-La Salle

Marathon won the last time they faced Immaculata-La Salle and things went their way on Tuesday too. Marathon blew past Immaculata-La Salle 20-4. Considering the Dolphins have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sara Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (two). She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Marathon got a massive performance out of Shaina Robinson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Elena Eubank, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Marathon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .788. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Marathon and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, Marathon and Immaculata-La Salle will both be playing Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart the next time they take the field. Immaculata-La Salle will head out to face Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Marathon will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
