Volleyball Game Preview: Mentor Cardinals vs. Hudson Explorers

The Mentor Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Hudson Explorers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mentor will be strutting in after a victory while Hudson will be coming in after a loss.

Mentor will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Medina, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Battling Bees on Thursday.

While Mentor won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Hudson lost 3-0 to St. Ignatius on Thursday.

While Hudson was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into St. Ignatius' winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-15, 25-20.

Mentor is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Hudson, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Mentor might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Hudson in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
