Baseball Game Preview: Durango Trailblazers vs. Valley Vikings

For the second straight game, Durango will face off against Valley. The Trailblazers will take on the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Durango has five straight wins, Valley has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Durango's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Valley 17-0. The Trailblazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Teagan Payne made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Durango got a big performance out of Jayden Shuford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Shuford has posted over his last nine games. Kysyn Kauahipaula also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Durango always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Durango's record now sits at 13-6. As for Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
