Basketball Recap: Cheylin Takes a Loss

Cheylin was the 62-44 winner over Rawlins County when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Cheylin Cougars fell 57-49 to the Rawlins County Buffaloes on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Cheylin lost, don't look at Landon Schoenberger. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. With that strong performance, Schoenberger is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Another player making a difference was Kohen Pochop, who put up seven points in addition to 17 boards and five assists.

Tru Dewey was nothing short of spectacular for Rawlins County: he almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dewey a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Prideaux, who posted 12 points and eight steals.

Cheylin's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Rawlins County, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheylin and Logan will compete for holiday cheer on Friday. As for Rawlins County, they will host Hitchcock County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
