Basketball Recap: Animo Bunche Comes Up Short

Animo Bunche was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Downtown Magnets Suns, falling 62-30. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-44 back in January.

Downtown Magnets found their leader in sophomore Patrick Lei, who went 8 for 20 en route to 22 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for Lei. Another player making a difference was Sean Huang, who went 5 of 9 to rack up 11 points and eight boards.

Animo Bunche's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Downtown Magnets, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Animo Bunche will venture away from home to take on Central City Value at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Downtown Magnets, they are taking a road trip to challenge USC-MAE at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Downtown Magnets is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
