Recap: St. Helena Saints vs. Kelseyville Knights

There's no place like home for The St. Helena Saints, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They skirted past Kelseyville 17-14. This was payback for St. Helena, who suffered a 18-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

St. Helena's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wynton Meyer, who threw for 125 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. St. Helena also got help from Sam Raunegger who showed off his sure hands for 98 receiving yards.

Kelseyville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Max Hommer, who rushed for 142 yards on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Watkins, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown.

St. Helena's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9-1 Healdsburg and 1-8 Upper Lake (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29% over those games). As for Kelseyville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Helena will take on Ferndale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kelseyville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
