Basketball Recap: Our Saviour Lutheran Drops Highest Score of Season Against Phelps

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Our Saviour Lutheran). They walked away with a 103-90 win over the Phelps Lions on Sunday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 19th in New York, while the Lions are ranked 344th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Phelps' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyce Bakare, who went 7 of 13 en route to 24 points and five rebounds. Those 24 points gave Bakare a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Onyx Nnani, who posted 17 points along with six assists and five boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Our Saviour Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Phelps, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Our Saviour Lutheran will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Patrick School on January 26th. Phelps has already played their next contest (against Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
