Pueblo County and Standley Lake squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Pueblo County had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Gators by a score of 3-2. The Hornets' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Pueblo County sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-12, 17-25, 15-13.
Pueblo County's loss came despite strong showings from Emma Garcia and Cylie Leonard. Garcia had 14 digs and three aces, while Leonard had 17 digs and two assists. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Among those leading the charge was Maryn Paulson, who had 13 digs and four assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in September of 2024. Sophia Lambrecht-Gardner also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.
Pueblo County's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Standley Lake, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4.
