Volleyball Recap: Choctawhatchee's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Choctawhatchee had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Freeport Bulldogs 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since August 21st.

Choctawhatchee had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-21, 15-10.

Leading Choctawhatchee to victory were Avery Thigpen and Airabella Delay. Thigpen had 12 assists and six digs, while Delay had six digs. Thigpen has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more assists the last four times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Freeport lost on Friday, don't look at Kaylee Worrell. Despite the final result, she had seven digs and two aces.

Choctawhatchee's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Freeport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-3.

Coincidentally, Choctawhatchee and Freeport will both be playing Stone Memorial the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Indians will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
