Baseball Game Preview: Plymouth North Eagles vs. Marshfield Rams

The Plymouth North Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Marshfield Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plymouth North's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Marshfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Plymouth North easily dispatched Hingham on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eagles fell just short of Duxbury by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Marshfield hadn't done well against Whitman-Hanson Regional recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since April 4th.

Plymouth North's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 13-4. As for Marshfield, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-12.

Plymouth North was able to grind out a solid win over Marshfield when the teams last played back in April, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
