Volleyball Recap: Woburn Memorial Comes Up Short

Woburn Memorial lost against Winchester back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Tanners came up short against the Red & Black, falling 3-0.

While Woburn Memorial was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Winchester's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.

Sasha Lefang paced Woburn Memorial's offense, picking up seven kills. Lefang got some help from Lauren Snyder and her 12 assists. Finally, Lefang was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Woburn Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Winchester, their victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1.

Woburn Memorial and Winchester should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Tanners (ranked 100th) will meet Arlington (ranked 229th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Winchester will challenge Reading Memorial at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 58).
