Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Jaguars vs. Pace Academy Knights

The Jackson Jaguars and the Pace Academy Knights will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Jackson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Pace Academy likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Jackson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-59 to Midtown.

Despite the defeat, Jackson had strong showings from Janiyah Weaver, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Journey Conley, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. The contest was Conley's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Janiya McCoy, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Pace Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Creekside, falling 67-28. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Seminoles are ranked 11th).

Pace Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

Jackson beat Pace Academy 65-54 in their previous matchup last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jackson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
