Soccer Game Preview: Elsinore vs. Norco

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Elsinore duke it out with the Norco at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday... The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Elsinore took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Jurupa Valley 3-2. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Jaguars are ranked 663rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Norco put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. They never let Sultana onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. The Cougars wouldn't have won without Abraham Garcia, who scored the game-winner.

Norco's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Elsinore, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
