It was a good run, but Lorena unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by the La Vega Pirates and fell 80-33. The Leopards were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-15.

La Vega's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaysia Gude, who went 8 of 12 en route to 20 points and seven steals. Gude is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Angela Carroll, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points.

Lorena's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-8. As for La Vega, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-6.

Lorena and La Vega should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Lorena (ranked 138th) will meet Robinson (ranked 431st) at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, La Vega will face off against Gatesville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 637 places (27 vs. 664).
