Sandia Prep barely beat Del Norte the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Sandia Prep was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Del Norte on Saturday. The Sundevils not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Logan Lemons, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Currier, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Norte only posted a batting average of .174.
Meanwhile, St. Michael's unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Bernalillo by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Horsemen have suffered since April 6, 2024.
St. Michael's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Bird, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Bird also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Michael Giesler was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Sandia Prep and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for St. Michael's, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Sandia Prep took their win against St. Michael's when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sandia Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
