Softball Game Preview: Rio Rico Hawks vs. Cholla Chargers

For the second straight game, Rio Rico will face off against Cholla. The Hawks will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Rio Rico is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Rio Rico came up short against Cholla on Tuesday, falling 16-6.

For Cholla's part, Isabella Pratti made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pratti has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Martha Zepeda was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Linarez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Cholla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory snapped Cholla's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-10 record. As for Rio Rico, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
