Basketball Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Starts off Right with Win over Patrick Henry Academy

Thomas Heyward Academy took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Patrick Henry Academy Patriots by a score of 56-48. This was payback for the Rebels, who suffered a 57-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Patrick Henry Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Mikell Tucker Mathis and Trey Adkins. Mathis dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Adkins almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Mathis a new career-high in steals (two).

Patrick Henry Academy now has a losing record at 2-3.

Thomas Heyward Academy will challenge Colleton Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Patrick Henry Academy, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against St. John's Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
