Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anderson County). They blew past the Cumberland Gap Panthers 19-1 on Monday. Considering the Mavericks have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alex Bond was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Clay Fletcher was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Easton Beaty was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Anderson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cumberland Gap only posted an OBP of .211.
