Softball Game Preview: Pleasant Spartans vs. Shelby Whippets

For the second straight game, Pleasant will face off against Shelby. Pleasant is taking a road trip to take on Shelby at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pleasant is leaving town to face Shelby after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Pleasant came up short against Shelby on Tuesday, falling 13-2. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

For Shelby's part, Alyssa Booker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie Kennard, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Braylee Sturts was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Pleasant might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Shelby in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can Pleasant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
