Soccer Game Preview: Sun Valley Magnet vs. Magnolia Science Academy Reseda

The Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers will take on the Magnolia Science Academy Reseda Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Sun Valley Magnet is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Burbank on Saturday. They fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 764th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 129th).

Sun Valley Magnet's goal came courtesy of Christopher Diaz, who's now up to 18 this season.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Magnolia Science Academy Reseda was forced to settle for a draw. They and Valor Academy finished up on equal footing with a 3-3 draw on Wednesday.

Magnolia Science Academy Reseda's draw gives them a new season record of 2-8-1. As for Sun Valley Magnet, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5-3.

Sun Valley Magnet was able to grind out a solid win over Magnolia Science Academy Reseda in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 4-2.
