Basketball Recap: Nine Straight Home Wins for Legacy

Legacy had won eight straight home games dating back to last season and Laila Gines did her part to make it nine on Saturday. The Legacy Longhorns walked away with a 52-44 victory over the Sports Leadership & Management Bulls thanks in part to Gines, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 19 points and eight steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January.

The team also got some help courtesy of Trista Mabry, who posted six points in addition to 12 boards and five assists. Mabry is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Legacy's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Legacy and Mira Costa will round out the year against one another at at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Legacy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they will challenge Spring Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Mia Ervin and Tavara Swonger.
