Football Game Preview: Ravenna Bluejays vs. Sandhills Valley Mavericks

The Ravenna Bluejays will take on the Sandhills Valley Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ravenna has four straight wins, Sandhills Valley has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Ravenna strolled past Pleasanton with points to spare, taking the game 36-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ravenna to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trenton Wedemeyer, who threw for 140 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 35 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Kobe Chamberlin, who gained 109 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Sandhills Valley played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 46-6 loss at the hands of South Loup. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.

Sandhills Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ravenna, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Everything came up roses for Ravenna against Sandhills Valley when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 64-18 win. In that matchup, the Bluejays amassed a halftime lead of 28-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
