Softball Recap: Cochranton Picks Up 16th Consecutive Win

Cochranton entered their tilt with Lakeview on Wednesday with 15 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 16. They blew past the Sailors 15-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 back in April.

Danielle Hoffman was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Reagann McClain was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Cochranton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cochranton pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cochranton will venture away from home to challenge Union City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 11.4 runs per game this season. As for Lakeview, they are taking a road trip to square off against Mercyhurst Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
