Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Comes Up Short

Mt. Pleasant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the Cascade Champions 72-12. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while the Champions are ranked 173rd).

Mt. Pleasant's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashley Turner, who posted five points and three blocks. Klarissa Mcfarland was another key player, putting up five points.

Kaegan Young had a dynamite game for Cascade, scoring 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Ray, who had eight points.

Mt. Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Cascade, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season.

Mt. Pleasant has already played their next match, a 40-35 defeat against Battle Creek on the 17th. As for Cascade, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-26 win against Grundy County on the 18th.
