The T.L. Hanna Yellow Jackets are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on the Greenwood Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. T.L. Hanna is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
T.L. Hanna proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Chapman 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellow Jackets have posted since April 17, 2024.
Connor Brooks looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, T.L. Hanna let Jackson Robinson and Zach Dillard run wild. Robinson went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, while Dillard scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Phifer Glenn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
T.L. Hanna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Greenwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to Laurens.
Greenwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landen Still, who went 2-for-4 with one double.
The victory got T.L. Hanna back to even at 2-2. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Greenwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: T.L. Hanna hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Greenwood, though, as they've only averaged .214. Will they be able to contain T.L. Hanna's hitters?
T.L. Hanna took their win against Greenwood in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for T.L. Hanna since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
