Baseball Game Preview: Pass Christian Pirates vs. Sumrall Bobcats

The Pass Christian Pirates will face off against the Sumrall Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pass Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Sumrall will come in with three straight victories.

Pass Christian came up short against Sumrall on Tuesday, falling 11-1.

For Sumrall's part, Leo Odom and Tyler Lowery did most of the damage at the plate: Odom went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Lowery went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Lowery a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hawkins, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Sumrall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Sumrall pushed their record up to 19-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pass Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-17.
