Softball Recap: Liberty Picks Up 17th Consecutive Win

With a playoff win on the line, Liberty rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Vanden Vikings 17-10. Considering the Lions have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Taylor Jennings, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Madison Tuttle was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the 17th in a row for Liberty, bringing their record up to 25-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Vanden, with the loss, they broke their 18-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-5.

Looking ahead, Liberty will face off against Salinas at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cowboys' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Vanden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
