Cinco Ranch continues to dominate.
Both squads continued in their quest for a playoff birth in this competitive district. Cinco Ranch has had a great start to the 2009 campaign going undefeated in pre-season, while staying undefeated in district as well. On the other side Morton Ranch looked to rack up a tally on the win column by defeating division foe Cinco Ranch in a classic Katy shootout.
The game began evenly with both squads trying to open the game up with a big play. Both defense’s managed to put the other offense in a punting situation, which made the Morton Ranch bench quite optimistic about the possible outcome of this game. The tide would quickly change as Cinco Ranch finally found the end zone with a 30 yard interception return for the touchdown with a little over 7 minutes left in the 1st quarter.
After that mental mistake, the Morton defense stepped up big, forcing Cinco to handover the ball with several three and out’s. It was not until the 2nd quarter that Cinco began to open up the game in a hurry. It all started with an impressive 22 yard field goal by Jacob Farmen. He would put the score 10-0 in favor of Cinco Ranch. But that only got the Cinco offense motivated as they were able to find the end zone several times before the half. On the next offensive sequence all-star running back K.C. Nlemchi would find the end zone on a 4 yard run for the touchdown.
Ending a drive that went over 80 yards from their own 20. Only a few minutes later Zach Myers would find a wide open Bobby Waid in the back of the end zone for the 23 yard pass touchdown. But this was not it, the Cinco defense was able to pin the Morton Ranch offense inside their own end zone causing a safety, that would only put Cinco in great field position to score once again before the half.
The short drive was capped once again by running back K.C. Nlemchi with a 1 yard run that would put the final dagger in the game before the end of the half. Cinco would find the end zone one more time before the end of the game in the third quarter with an impressive 37 yard run for the touchdown by Mo Sillah. Final score Cinco wins by a big margin of 40-0.
Both squads have opposite records in divisional play. Morton continues to struggle to find it’s first victory, with an overall record of 0-7, and a district record of 0-2. Meanwhile Cinco is undefeated in the season as well as in district, with a perfect record of 7-0. Cinco will try to stay undefeated against Mayde Creek, while Morton will look for its’ first victory
