Football Recap: Tug Valley Falls to Mingo Central in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Tug Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 35-30 to the Mingo Central Miners on Thursday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Miners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Mingo Central was led to victory by Bam Coleman and Jamere Knuckles. Coleman rushed for 184 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, while Knuckles rushed for 123 yards and three TDs. Coleman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.

Tug Valley and Mingo Central will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Panthers will take on rival Sherman at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. Meanwhile, Mingo Central is set to square off against their familiar foe Westside at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
