Recap: Oberlin The Phoenix vs. Clearview Clippers

This season hasn't been kind to the Oberlin The Phoenix , who are still winless after their seventh contest. They took a serious blow against Clearview on Friday, falling 74-38. Oberlin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clearview apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Oberlin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gus Green, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Julian Anderson, who scored 11 points.

Clearview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Noble, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and six steals. Noble is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jai Walton, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Oberlin bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Clearview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.

Oberlin will be playing at home against Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clearview, they will head out on the road to face off against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
