Iona Prep gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Xavier Knights. The victory was familiar territory for the Gaels, who have now won seven games in a row dating back to last season.

While Iona Prep might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Xavier scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18.

Among those leading the charge was Jacob Chiu, who had nine digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).

Coming up, Iona Prep will take on Salesian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Xavier, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Xaverian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
