Baseball Game Preview: Esperanza Aztecs vs. Brea Olinda Wildcats

For the second straight game, Esperanza will face off against Brea Olinda. The Aztecs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m.

Last Wednesday, Esperanza didn't have quite enough to beat Brea Olinda and fell 7-6. The Aztecs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Brea Olinda's part, Dominic Gomez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gomez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Brea Olinda got a big performance out of Jesse Hirsch, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Deacon Britton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Brea Olinda pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Esperanza, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
