Sierra has gone 8-2 against Canon City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Sierra Stallions will take on the Canon City Tigers in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. Sierra is looking for their season's first victory.

Sierra is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Pueblo East on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sierra had to suffer through a 72-30 loss at the hands of Pueblo East. The Stallions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-34, which was the final score in Canon City's tilt against Farmington on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 141st in Colorado, while the Scorpions are ranked 21st in New Mexico).

Canon City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Sierra, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Sierra came out on top in a nail-biter against Canon City in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, sneaking past 42-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sierra since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
