Preview: Madison vs. Elkhorn Valley
Elkhorn Valley will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Madison at 7:00 PM. Both teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
If Elkhorn Valley were riding high off their 56-0 takedown of Niobrara/Verdigre two weeks ago, that ride came to an abrupt end. Elkhorn Valley found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 38-69 punch to the gut against Osceola/High Plains last week. Elkhorn Valley's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Josh Mcfarland, who rushed for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with 15 tackles Mcfarland was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, there's no need to mince words: Madison lost to Wisner-Pilger, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 20-68. Madison were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 6-54.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a defeat, both will be hungry for the victory. Given their recent losses, both teams have a little extra motivation heading into this weekend.
