Softball Recap: Delavan Takes a Loss

Delavan extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-15. They lost 11-0 to the Brimfield Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Brimfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.

For Brimfield's part, Layla Hersemann was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Hersemann has posted since back in April. Reese Legaspi also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Coming up, Delavan is taking a road trip to challenge Astoria/VIT at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.53 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brimfield, they will take on Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
