Basketball Recap: South Mountain Comes Up Short

South Mountain played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 76-54 to the Browne Bruins. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Browne to victory were Adam Chaffin and Karmello Walker. Chaffin went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven blocks, while Walker dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Chaffin has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Raevonta Hill, who posted eight points and four steals.

South Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Browne, they moved to 8-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

South Mountain will challenge Camelback at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Camelback is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season. Browne has already played their next game (against Cibola), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
