Baseball Recap: South Putnam Gets the Win

South Putnam came out on top against North Central on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Eagles walked away with an 8-5 win over the Thunderbirds. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 13-3 victory the Thunderbirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Wyatt Mullin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of South Putnam's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kason Amies, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Putnam kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

The win got South Putnam back to even at 4-4. As for North Central, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

South Putnam has already played their next contest (against Sullivan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for North Central, they have also already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against North Vermillion on the 28th.
