Preview: Sage Ridge Scorpions vs. Coleville Wolves
Sage Ridge is 0-8 against Coleville since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Sage Ridge Scorpions will be playing at home against the Coleville Wolves at 4:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Sage Ridge slipped by Virginia City 51-50.
Sophia Soran was on fire: she almost dropped a triple-double on 33 points, 15 rebounds, and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Beatrice Liwanag, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Coleville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took down Virginia City 59-42. The victory was just what Coleville needed coming off of a 69-30 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Kaelyn Lange, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 5 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Coleville's points. Stephanie Gutierrez-Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and four steals.
The win got Sage Ridge back to even at 1-1. As for Coleville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Things could have been worse for Sage Ridge, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-32 loss to Coleville when the teams last played back in February of 2023.
