Softball Recap: Sodus Takes a Loss

Sodus dropped their record down to 4-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Lyons Lions, falling 18-2. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Lyons, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 7-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

For Lyons' part, Rylee Richardson and Keira Weber made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Richardson tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Weber tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Richardson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Richardson went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Weber went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Lyons got a massive performance out of Lydia Briggs, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Elise Wilkinson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sodus will face off against Whitman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lyons, they will square off against Marion at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
