Recap: East Lyme Vikings vs. New London Whalers
The East Lyme Vikings pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to New London on the road by a decisive 77-59 margin. East Lyme has not had much luck with New London recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New London to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devan Williams, who scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Da'Shaun Phillips, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
East Lyme's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for New London, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Lyme will take on Norwich Free Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Norwich Free Academy is ranked 54th, while East Lyme is ranked 42nd). As for New London, they will be playing at home against Killingly at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
