Soccer Game Preview: Grandview vs. Northfield

The Grandview Wolves will challenge the Northfield Nighthawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Grandview's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Smoky Hill as they made off with a 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Grandview in their matchups with Smoky Hill: they've now won seven in a row.

Grandview's offense was hitting Smoky Hill from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Allie Smith led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Northfield strolled into their game on Thursday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on George Washington with a sharp 9-0 win. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Northfield's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while George Washington are ranked 102nd).

Northfield pushed their record up to 6-0-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Grandview, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.
