Softball Recap: Ashe County Takes a Loss

Ashe County dropped their record down to 13-11 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Hibriten Panthers by a score of 9-8. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 14-2.

Ally Greer stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nadilyn Eason, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Hibriten, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Ashe County since March 25, 2022.

On Hibriten's side, Claire Rotting made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Rotting has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Allie Stilwell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Brinley Lewis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As of now, neither Ashe County nor Hibriten have any future games scheduled.
